A person is guilty of the illegal possession, sale or distribution of electronic surveillance equipment when he possesses, sells or distributes an electronic, mechanical or other device, as defined in § 54-41a for use in violation of § 53a-188 or 53a-189. The illegal possession, sale or distribution of electronic surveillance equipment is a class D felony.
