(1) An officer, employee, agent, or representative of:

(a) A state agency;

  • agency: means any official, officer, commission, board, authority, council, committee, or department of the executive branch or the judicial branch of state government as defined in chapter 216. See Florida Statutes 110.107
  • Contract: A legal written agreement that becomes binding when signed.
  • Corporation: A legal entity owned by the holders of shares of stock that have been issued, and that can own, receive, and transfer property, and carry on business in its own name.
  • Partnership: A voluntary contract between two or more persons to pool some or all of their assets into a business, with the agreement that there will be a proportional sharing of profits and losses.
  • political subdivision: include counties, cities, towns, villages, special tax school districts, special road and bridge districts, bridge districts, and all other districts in this state. See Florida Statutes 1.01
(b) A political subdivision of the state; or
(c) A corporation, partnership, association, or other entity that does business or contracts with a state agency, receives state funds, or claims a credit against any tax imposed by the state

may not travel to or do business with any country located in the Western Hemisphere which lacks diplomatic relations with the United States.

(2) A political subdivision that violates this section is ineligible to receive state funds.
(3) A corporation, partnership, association, or other entity that violates this section is ineligible to:

(a) Engage in business or contract with a state agency;
(b) Receive state funds; or
(c) Claim a credit against any tax imposed by the state.
