  • Corporation: A legal entity owned by the holders of shares of stock that have been issued, and that can own, receive, and transfer property, and carry on business in its own name.
If any insurance company, corporation or other insurer fails to comply with the provisions of this chapter, on or before March 1 in each year as herein provided, the certificate of authority issued to said insurance company, corporation or other insurer to transact business in this state may be canceled and revoked by the Office of Insurance Regulation of the Financial Services Commission, and it is unlawful for any such insurance company, corporation or other insurer to transact any business thereafter in this state unless such insurance company, corporation or other insurer shall be granted a new certificate of authority to transact business in this state, in compliance with provisions of law authorizing such certificate of authority to be issued. The division shall be responsible for notifying the Office of Insurance Regulation regarding any such failure to comply.
