Terms Used In Florida Statutes 388.211

  • Amendment: A proposal to alter the text of a pending bill or other measure by striking out some of it, by inserting new language, or both. Before an amendment becomes part of the measure, thelegislature must agree to it.
  • Board of commissioners: means the governing body of any mosquito control district, and may include boards of county commissioners when context so indicates. See Florida Statutes 388.011
  • County: means a political subdivision of the state administered by a board of county commissioners. See Florida Statutes 388.011
  • District: means any mosquito control district established in this state by law for the express purpose of controlling arthropods within boundaries of said districts. See Florida Statutes 388.011

(1) The board of commissioners of any district formed prior to July 1, 1980, may, for and on behalf of the district or the qualified electors within or without the district, request that the board of county commissioners in each county having land within the district approve a change in the boundaries of the district.
(2) If the board of county commissioners approves such change, an amendment shall be made to the order creating the district to conform with the boundary change.
