(1) Includes any person, firm, or corporation who performs for a fee of any kind, gratuitously, or otherwise, directly or through an agent or employee, by any means or method, or who in any way supplies or manufactures artificial substitutes for the natural teeth, or who furnishes, supplies, constructs, or reproduces or repairs any prosthetic denture, bridge, or appliance to be worn in the human mouth or who in any way holds itself out as a dental laboratory. Dentistry: means the healing art which is concerned with the examination, diagnosis, treatment planning, and care of conditions within the human oral cavity and its adjacent tissues and structures. See Florida Statutes 570.843
The department, upon consultation with the Board of Dentistry and industry representatives of the dental laboratory profession, has authority to adopt rules pursuant to ss. 120.536(1) and 120.54 to enforce the provisions of this chapter pertaining to and regulating dental laboratories.
