Terms Used In Florida Statutes 484.044

  • Board: means the Board of Hearing Aid Specialists. See Florida Statutes 484.041
  • Hearing aid: means any wearable device designed for, offered for the purpose of, or represented as aiding persons with, or compensating for, impaired hearing. See Florida Statutes 484.041
  • Hearing aid specialist: means a person duly licensed in this state to practice the dispensing of prescription hearing aids. See Florida Statutes 484.041

(1) The board has authority to adopt rules pursuant to ss. 120.536(1) and 120.54 to implement the provisions of this part conferring duties upon it.
(2) The board shall adopt rules requiring that each prospective purchaser of a prescription hearing aid be notified by the attending hearing aid specialist, at the time of the initial examination for fitting and sale of a hearing aid, of telecoil, “t” coil, or “t” switch technology. The rules shall further require that hearing aid specialists make available to prospective purchasers or clients information regarding telecoils, “t” coils, or “t” switches.
