Terms Used In Florida Statutes 484.047

  • Board: means the Board of Hearing Aid Specialists. See Florida Statutes 484.041
  • Department: means the Department of Health. See Florida Statutes 484.041
  • Hearing aid: means any wearable device designed for, offered for the purpose of, or represented as aiding persons with, or compensating for, impaired hearing. See Florida Statutes 484.041
  • writing: includes handwriting, printing, typewriting, and all other methods and means of forming letters and characters upon paper, stone, wood, or other materials. See Florida Statutes 1.01

(1) The board by rule shall provide a method for the biennial renewal of a license.
(2) In addition to the other requirements for renewal provided in this section and by the board, the department shall renew a license upon receipt of the renewal application and the renewal fee. A licensee must maintain, if applicable, a certificate from a manufacturer or independent testing agent certifying that the testing room meets the requirements of s. 484.0501(6) and, if applicable, a certificate from a manufacturer or independent testing agent stating that all audiometric testing equipment used by the licensee has been calibrated acoustically to American National Standards Institute standards on an annual basis. Possession of an applicable certificate is a prerequisite to renewal.
(3) A licensee shall notify the board in writing of any change of address.
(4) The board may adopt rules to require no more than 30 approved hours of mandatory continuing education for the renewal of a hearing aid specialist’s license.
