If appropriate federal authorities notify the Department of Transportation that the erection of a sign pursuant to any of the provisions of ORS § 377.756 to 377.758 is contrary to any federal law, the department shall cease issuing permits and shall cause any signs erected pursuant to ORS § 377.756 to 377.758 to be removed.
