Terms Used In Hawaii Revised Statutes 266-1.6

  • Jurisdiction: (1) The legal authority of a court to hear and decide a case. Concurrent jurisdiction exists when two courts have simultaneous responsibility for the same case. (2) The geographic area over which the court has authority to decide cases.

Notwithstanding any law to the contrary, the department of transportation shall have jurisdiction and administrative authority over Hana harbor, excluding its small boat ramp facility. The Hana harbor small boat ramp facility shall remain under the jurisdiction and administrative authority of the department of land and natural resources.
