Terms Used In Hawaii Revised Statutes 302A-1138

  • Guardian: A person legally empowered and charged with the duty of taking care of and managing the property of another person who because of age, intellect, or health, is incapable of managing his (her) own affairs.
  • Public schools: means all academic and noncollege type schools established and maintained by the department and charter schools governed by chapter 302D. See Hawaii Revised Statutes 302A-101

All principals in the public schools, upon the written request of the parent, guardian, or other person having the care and control of any pupil attending any public school, shall permit any such pupil to leave the school grounds during intermissions. Any principal granting such a permit shall not be held liable for the action of the pupil during the intermissions and while the pupil remains outside of the school grounds.
