Terms Used In Hawaii Revised Statutes 431:4-405

  • Attorney-in-fact: A person who, acting as an agent, is given written authorization by another person to transact business for him (her) out of court.
  • Corporation: A legal entity owned by the holders of shares of stock that have been issued, and that can own, receive, and transfer property, and carry on business in its own name.
  • Partnership: A voluntary contract between two or more persons to pool some or all of their assets into a business, with the agreement that there will be a proportional sharing of profits and losses.

Attorney as used in this part refers to the attorney-in-fact of a reciprocal insurer. The attorney may be an individual, partnership, or corporation. The principal office of the attorney for a domestic reciprocal insurer shall be maintained within this State.
