  • Damages: Money paid by defendants to successful plaintiffs in civil cases to compensate the plaintiffs for their injuries.

Any person injured by a violation of section 445-95.2 has a private right of action and may bring a civil action to recover three times the person’s actual damages or $1,000 for each violation, whichever sum is greater. Any person bringing such an action shall also be entitled to recover the person’s costs together with reasonable attorneys’ fees.
