Terms Used In Illinois Compiled Statutes 20 ILCS 505/30

  • Jurisdiction: (1) The legal authority of a court to hear and decide a case. Concurrent jurisdiction exists when two courts have simultaneous responsibility for the same case. (2) The geographic area over which the court has authority to decide cases.
  • State: when applied to different parts of the United States, may be construed to include the District of Columbia and the several territories, and the words "United States" may be construed to include the said district and territories. See Illinois Compiled Statutes 5 ILCS 70/1.14
     To prescribe and require surety bonds from any officer or employee under the jurisdiction of the Department, where deemed advisable, in such penal sums to be determined by the Department. The cost of such bonds shall be paid by the State out of funds appropriated to the Department.
