Terms Used In Illinois Compiled Statutes 25 ILCS 70/8

  • Amendment: A proposal to alter the text of a pending bill or other measure by striking out some of it, by inserting new language, or both. Before an amendment becomes part of the measure, thelegislature must agree to it.
     Whenever any measure is amended on the floor of either house in such manner as to bring it within the description of bills set forth in Section 2 above, a majority of such house may propose that no action shall be taken upon the amendment until the sponsor of the amendment presents to the members a statement of the budget and population impact of his amendment, as required by this Act.
