  • Advertisement: means :

    California Business and Professions Code 7590.1

  • Alarm agent: means a person employed by an alarm company operator whose duties, being physically conducted within the state, include selling on premises, altering, installing, maintaining, moving, repairing, replacing, servicing, responding, or monitoring an alarm system, and those ancillary devices connected to and controlled by the alarm system, including supplementary smoke detectors, or a person who manages or supervises a person employed by an alarm company to perform any of the duties described in this subdivision or any person in training for any of the duties described in this subdivision. See California Business and Professions Code 7590.1
  • Alarm system: means an assembly of equipment and devices arranged to detect a hazard or signal the presence of an off-normal situation. See California Business and Professions Code 7590.1
  • Annex project related work: means all work closely related to the Capitol building annex project, including, but not limited to, any visitor's center or parking facility constructed pursuant to §. See California Public Resources Code 21189.50
  • bill or resolution: includes a constitutional amendment. See California Government Code 9051.5
  • board: means any entity listed in Section 101, the entities referred to in Sections 1000 and 3600, the State Bar, the Department of Real Estate, and any other state agency that issues a license, certificate, or registration authorizing a person to engage in a business or profession. See California Business and Professions Code 31
  • board: means the board of directors of the district. See California Public Utilities Code 125050
  • Bonds: means bonds, notes, bond anticipation notes, and any other evidence of indebtedness, and also includes certificates of participation or lease-purchase agreements. See California Government Code 9117
  • Branch office: means any location, other than the principal place of business of the licensee, which is licensed as set forth in Article 11 (commencing with Section 7599. See California Business and Professions Code 7590.1
  • Branch office manager: means an individual designated by the qualified manager to manage the licensee's branch office and who has met the requirements as set forth in Article 11 (commencing with Section 7599. See California Business and Professions Code 7590.1
  • bureau: means the Bureau of Security and Investigative Services. See California Business and Professions Code 7580.4

  • commission: means a county transportation commission created pursuant to Chapter 2 (commencing with Section 130050). See California Public Utilities Code 130002

  • Commissioner: means any county agricultural commissioner. See California Food and Agricultural Code 26
  • committee: means a committee of either the Senate or Assembly, a joint committee of both houses, or, when any of the foregoing committees is authorized to create subcommittees, a subcommittee. See California Government Code 9400
  • committee: means the engrossing and enrolling committee of the house ordering the engrossing or enrolling of a bill or other document or the committee of such house which performs the duties of engrossing and enrolling committee when no committee is so designated by name.   • committee: includes a standing committee, joint committee, conference committee, subcommittee, select committee, special committee, research committee, or any similar body. See California Government Code 9027

  • Eligible patient: means a person who meets all of the following conditions:

  • employee: means an individual who works for an employer, is listed on the employer's payroll records, and is under the employer's direction and control. See California Business and Professions Code 7580.9

  • employer: means a person who employs an individual for wages or salary, lists the individual on the employer's payroll records, and withholds all legally required deductions and contributions. See California Business and Professions Code 7580.8

  • firearm permit: includes "firearms permit" "firearms qualification card" "firearms qualification" and "firearms qualification permit. See California Business and Professions Code 7580.11

  • Firearms permit: means a permit issued by the bureau, pursuant to Article 6 (commencing with Section 7596), to a licensee, a qualified manager, or an alarm agent, to carry an exposed firearm while on duty. See California Business and Professions Code 7590.1
  • garbage: means any waste which consists in whole or in part of any animal waste that results from the handling, preparing, cooking, and consuming of food, including the offal from any animal carcass or from any part of an animal carcass. See California Food and Agricultural Code 10901
  • Health benefit plan: includes , but is not limited to, a health care service plan contract issued by a health care service plan, as defined in Section 1345, and a policy of health insurance, as defined in §. See California Health and Safety Code 111548.1
  • Historic fabric: means original or added building or construction materials, features, and finishes that are deemed by the commission as historically or architecturally significant. See California Government Code 9149.1
  • Historic State Capitol: means the building housing the state legislative offices and chambers, situated in the area bounded by 10th, L, 15th, and N Streets in the City of Sacramento, including the portions of the State Capitol Building Annex that contain historic fabric, and Capitol Park, provided that Capitol Park shall be included in the historic State Capitol for purposes of this article only upon the adoption by the Joint Rules Committee of a master plan regarding Capitol Park. See California Government Code 9149.1
  • Immediately life-threatening disease or condition: means a stage of disease in which there is a reasonable likelihood that death will occur within a matter of months. See California Health and Safety Code 111548.1
  • Insurance policy: as used in this article , means a commercial general liability policy of insurance issued by an insurance company authorized to transact business in this state that provides minimum limits of insurance of one million dollars ($1,000,000) for any one loss or occurrence due to bodily injury, including death, or property damage, or both. See California Business and Professions Code 7583.40 v2
  • Junk dealer: has the meaning defined in Section 21601. See California Business and Professions Code 21651
  • Lease financing: means the financial undertaking authorized by this article under which the lessee shall lease the project from the lessor and the rental payments to be paid by the lessee, and any other authorized or appropriated funds, shall be used to secure the repayment of the bonds and the proceeds of the bonds shall be applied to pay the costs of the project and related costs as authorized by this article. See California Government Code 9117
  • Legal material: means all of the following, whether or not in effect:

  • legislative body: means the city council or board of trustees in the case of a city, the board of supervisors in the case of a county or a city and county, or the board of directors, trustees, or governors or other governing body in the case of a special district or any other municipal or public corporation or district. See California Government Code 54706
  • Legislative records: means any writing prepared on or after December 2, 1974, which contains information relating to the conduct of the public's business prepared, owned, used, or retained by the Legislature. See California Government Code 9072
  • Legislature: includes any Member of the Legislature, any legislative officer, any standing, joint, or select committee or subcommittee of the Senate and Assembly, and any other agency or employee of the Legislature. See California Government Code 9072
  • Lessee: means the Legislature, acting through its authorized representative as provided for in this article. See California Government Code 9117
  • Lessor: means the State Public Works Board acting pursuant to the State Building Construction Act of 1955, Part 10b (commencing with Section 15800) of Division 3 of Title 2, a joint exercise of powers agency established between the lessee and any qualifying entity of government and acting pursuant to the Joint Exercise of Powers Act, Chapter 5 (commencing with Section 6500) of Division 7 of Title 1, or any other person, corporation, partnership, or other entity serving as the lessor under the lease financing. See California Government Code 9117
  • license: means license, certificate, registration, or other means to engage in a business or profession regulated by this code or referred to in Section 1000 or 3600. See California Business and Professions Code 23.7
  • Licensee: means any person authorized by a license, certificate, registration, or other means to engage in a business or profession regulated by this code or referred to in Sections 1000 and 3600. See California Business and Professions Code 23.8
  • licensee: means a person licensed under this chapter and includes, but is not limited to, private patrol operator and armored contract carrier. See California Business and Professions Code 7580.6
  • Licensee: means a business entity, whether an individual, partnership, limited liability company, or corporation licensed under this chapter. See California Business and Professions Code 7590.1
  • local agency: means any city, county, city and county, special district, or any other municipal corporation or district. See California Government Code 54705
  • local agency: means municipal corporation or sanitary district. See California Government Code 55000
  • manager: means the individual under whose direction, control, charge, or management the business of a licensee is operated. See California Business and Professions Code 7580.7
  • Manager: means an individual designated under an operating agreement of a manager-managed limited liability company who is responsible for performing the management functions for the limited liability company specified in subdivision (c) of §. See California Business and Professions Code 7590.1
  • meeting: means a gathering of a quorum of the members of a house or committee in one place for the purpose of discussing legislative or other official matters within the jurisdiction of the house or committee. See California Government Code 9027
  • Member: means an individual who is a member of a limited liability company as defined in subdivision (p) of §. See California Business and Professions Code 7590.1
  • multicounty designated transportation planning agency: means the Southern California Association of Governments. See California Public Utilities Code 130004
  • Notice: includes all papers and orders required to be served in any proceedings before any court, board, or officer, or when required by law to be served independently of such proceeding. See California Government Code 26660
  • Oath: includes affirmation. See California Business and Professions Code 20

  • Operator: as used in this article , means any person, partnership, organization or corporation that controls, manages, conducts or otherwise administers a swap meet. See California Business and Professions Code 21661
  • person: includes any individual, firm, company, association, organization, partnership, and corporation. See California Business and Professions Code 7580.3
  • Person: means any individual, firm, company, association, organization, partnership, limited liability company, or corporation. See California Business and Professions Code 7590.1
  • Person: includes any natural person, corporation, partnership, limited liability company, firm, or association. See California Government Code 9072
  • Person: means any individual, partnership, association, corporation, limited liability company, or any organized group of persons whether incorporated or not. See California Food and Agricultural Code 38
  • Person: means an individual, corporation, government or governmental subdivision or agency, business trust, estate, trust, partnership, limited liability company, association, or other entity. See California Probate Code 56
  • Person: means any person, firm, association, organization, partnership, business trust, corporation, limited liability company, or company. See California Health and Safety Code 19
  • Person: includes any city, county, district, the state, and the United States, to the extent authorized by federal law. See California Water Code 13050
  • Pollution: means an alteration of the quality of the waters of the state by waste to a degree which unreasonably affects either of the following:

  • Primary physician: means a physician and surgeon licensed under the Medical Practice Act or an osteopathic physician and surgeon licensed under the Osteopathic Act. See California Health and Safety Code 111548.1
  • Project: means the property and the buildings on the property bounded by 10th, 11th, N, and O Streets in the City of Sacramento, consisting of two connecting buildings located at 1020 N Street and 1021 O Street in the City of Sacramento, and the remodeling and rehabilitation of these buildings or destruction and removal of these buildings and the construction of new buildings on this property for use as legislative office facilities, and includes all aspects of the project from initial planning to completion and occupancy by the Legislature. See California Government Code 9117
  • Qualified manager: means an individual who is in active control, management, and direction of the licensee's business, and who is in possession of a current and valid qualified manager's certificate pursuant to this chapter. See California Business and Professions Code 7590.1
  • Record: means information that is inscribed on a tangible medium or that is stored in an electronic or other medium and is retrievable in perceivable form. See California Government Code 10291
  • Recycled water: means water which, as a result of treatment of waste, is suitable for a direct beneficial use or a controlled use that would not otherwise occur and is therefor considered a valuable resource. See California Water Code 13050
  • Regional board: means any California regional water quality control board for a region as specified in Section 13200. See California Water Code 13050
  • Registrant: means any person registered or who has applied for registration under this chapter. See California Business and Professions Code 7590.1
  • secondhand dealer: as used in this article , means and includes any person, copartnership, firm, or corporation whose business includes buying, selling, trading, taking in pawn, accepting for sale on consignment, accepting for auctioning, or auctioning secondhand tangible personal property. See California Business and Professions Code 21626
  • Secondhand dealer: has the meaning defined in Section 21626. See California Business and Professions Code 21651
  • Secretary: means the Secretary of Food and Agriculture. See California Food and Agricultural Code 35
  • Sell: includes offer for sale, expose for sale, possess for sale, exchange, barter, or trade. See California Food and Agricultural Code 44
  • service: includes the cost of maintaining any facility used to provide any service. See California Government Code 54708
  • solar collector: includes a fixed device, structure, or part of a device or structure that is used primarily to transform solar energy into thermal, chemical, or electrical energy and that is installed on the ground because a solar collector cannot be installed on the roof of the building receiving the energy due to inappropriate roofing material, slope of the roof, structural shading, or orientation of the building. See California Public Resources Code 25981
  • Spouse: includes "registered domestic partner" as required by §. See California Public Resources Code 12.2

  • state park lands: means any lands subject to the control of the Department of Parks and Recreation. See California Food and Agricultural Code 11301
  • State regulatory board: means the Medical Board of California or the Osteopathic Medical Board of California. See California Health and Safety Code 111548.1
  • Subdivision: means a subdivision of the section in which that term occurs, unless some other section is expressly mentioned. See California Business and Professions Code 15

  • taker-up: means any person that takes up an estray animal pursuant to Section 17041. See California Food and Agricultural Code 17001
  • tangible personal property: means all secondhand tangible personal property that bears a serial number or personalized initials or inscription or that, at the time it is acquired by the secondhand dealer, bears evidence of having had a serial number or personalized initials or inscription.   • Town: includes "unincorporated town" and "village. See California Government Code 21
  • Treasurer: means the Treasurer of the State of California. See California Government Code 9117
  • United States: means the United States of America, and in relation to any particular matter includes the officers, agents, employees, agencies, or instrumentalities authorized to act in relation thereto. See California Water Code 20
  • Vendor: as used in this article , means any person, partnership, organization or corporation who exchanges, sells, or offers for sale or exchange any merchandise at a swap meet. See California Business and Professions Code 21661
  • Waste: includes sewage and any and all other waste substances, liquid, solid, gaseous, or radioactive, associated with human habitation, or of human or animal origin, or from any producing, manufacturing, or processing operation, including waste placed within containers of whatever nature prior to, and for purposes of, disposal. See California Water Code 13050
  • Water quality control: means the regulation of any activity or factor which may affect the quality of the waters of the state and includes the prevention and correction of water pollution and nuisance. See California Water Code 13050
  • Waters of the state: means any surface water or groundwater, including saline waters, within the boundaries of the state. See California Water Code 13050
  • Writing: means handwriting, typewriting, printing, photostating, photographing, and every other means of recording upon any form of communication or representation, including letters, words, pictures, sounds, or symbols, or combination thereof, and all papers, maps, magnetic or paper tapes, photographic films and prints, magnetic or punched cards, discs, drums, and other documents.
