Terms Used In Illinois Compiled Statutes 25 ILCS 75/35

  • Amendment: A proposal to alter the text of a pending bill or other measure by striking out some of it, by inserting new language, or both. Before an amendment becomes part of the measure, thelegislature must agree to it.
     Whenever a bill is amended on the floor of either house in a manner as to bring it within the description of bills set forth in Section 5, a majority of that house may propose that no action be taken upon the amendment until the sponsor of the amendment presents a home rule note to the members.
