  • Indemnification: In general, a collateral contract or assurance under which one person agrees to secure another person against either anticipated financial losses or potential adverse legal consequences. Source: FDIC
  • State: when applied to different parts of the United States, may be construed to include the District of Columbia and the several territories, and the words "United States" may be construed to include the said district and territories. See Illinois Compiled Statutes 5 ILCS 70/1.14
     Except for willful or wanton misconduct, a person employed by the Department shall not be subject to criminal or civil penalties for taking any action under this Act when the actions are within the scope of his or her employment. Representation and indemnification of Department employees shall be provided to Department employees as set forth in Section 2 of the State Employee Indemnification Act.
