The board of trustees of the district shall have power to take all necessary or proper steps to provide rescue services within the district; to purchase equipment, supplies, and materials; to recruit, employ, or contract with ambulance, rescue squad, or both ambulance and rescue squad personnel, who shall be compensated at a rate determined by the board of trustees; and generally to do any and all things necessary or incident to the powers granted by this Act and to carry out the objects of this Act.
