- State: when applied to different parts of the United States, may be construed to include the District of Columbia and the several territories, and the words "United States" may be construed to include the said district and territories. See Illinois Compiled Statutes 5 ILCS 70/1.14
Whenever a county clerk or other election authority places upon a ballot the question of creating or altering a fire protection district, such clerk or other election authority shall notify the Office of the State Fire Marshal that such a proposition is to be put before the electorate. Such notice shall be sent to the Office of the State Fire Marshal within 10 working days after the question is certified to the clerk or other election authority.
