Terms Used In Illinois Compiled Statutes 720 ILCS 640/2

  • Petty offense: A federal misdemeanor punishable by six months or less in prison. Source: U.S. Courts
     A person first convicted of improper supervision of a child shall be guilty of a petty offense and shall be fined not to exceed $25. A person so convicted a second time shall be guilty of a petty offense and shall be fined not to exceed $50. A person so convicted a third or subsequent time shall be guilty of a Class B misdemeanor.
