Terms Used In Illinois Compiled Statutes 755 ILCS 5/12-14

  • Appeal: A request made after a trial, asking another court (usually the court of appeals) to decide whether the trial was conducted properly. To make such a request is "to appeal" or "to take an appeal." One who appeals is called the appellant.
  • Decedent: A deceased person.

A bond of a representative on appeal from the order or judgment of any court must be in the form prescribed by law in other civil cases, except that the bond of a representative of a decedent‘s estate must be conditioned to pay the judgment with costs in due course of administration and the bond of a representative of a ward’s estate must be conditioned to pay the judgment with costs as he has funds therefor.
