Terms Used In Illinois Compiled Statutes 805 ILCS 20/4

  • Affidavit: A written statement of facts confirmed by the oath of the party making it, before a notary or officer having authority to administer oaths.
  • Corporation: A legal entity owned by the holders of shares of stock that have been issued, and that can own, receive, and transfer property, and carry on business in its own name.
  • State: when applied to different parts of the United States, may be construed to include the District of Columbia and the several territories, and the words "United States" may be construed to include the said district and territories. See Illinois Compiled Statutes 5 ILCS 70/1.14
     It shall not be necessary for the Attorney-General to file an affidavit showing such officer or agent of such corporation resides or has gone out of the State, or on due inquiry cannot be found, or is concealed so that process cannot be served upon them, or that upon diligent inquiry the places of residence of such officers or agents cannot be ascertained.
