Terms Used In Indiana Code 27-1-23-13

  • Insurance: means a contract of insurance or an agreement by which one (1) party, for a consideration, promises to pay money or its equivalent or to do an act valuable to the insured upon the destruction, loss or injury of something in which the other party has a pecuniary interest, or in consideration of a price paid, adequate to the risk, becomes security to the other against loss by certain specified risks; to grant indemnity or security against loss for a consideration.    Sec. 13. This chapter, while independent in its enactment of any other law, shall be supplemental to the Indiana Insurance Law (IC 27-1-2 through IC 27-1-20). All provisions of IC 27-1-2 through IC 27-1-20 shall be fully and completely applicable to this chapter in the same manner as if the provisions of this chapter had been an original part of IC 27-1-2 through IC 27-1-20. This chapter shall be controlling in the event there exists any conflict between this chapter and IC 27-1-2 through IC 27-1-20.
