Sec. 15. As used in this chapter, “property and casualty insurer” means an insurer that is authorized to make one (1) or more of the types of insurance described in Class 2 and Class 3 of IC 27-1-5-1. The term does not include the following:
(2) A financial guaranty insurer.
(1) A monoline mortgage guaranty insurer.
Terms Used In Indiana Code 27-1-36-15
- health maintenance organization: has the meaning set forth in IC 27-13-1-19. See Indiana Code 27-1-36-9.4
- Insurance: means a contract of insurance or an agreement by which one (1) party, for a consideration, promises to pay money or its equivalent or to do an act valuable to the insured upon the destruction, loss or injury of something in which the other party has a pecuniary interest, or in consideration of a price paid, adequate to the risk, becomes security to the other against loss by certain specified risks; to grant indemnity or security against loss for a consideration. - insurer: includes :

- limited service health maintenance organization: has the meaning set forth in IC 27-13-34-4. See Indiana Code 27-1-36-9.8
- Mortgage: The written agreement pledging property to a creditor as collateral for a loan.
(3) A title insurer.
(4) A health maintenance organization.
(5) A limited service health maintenance organization.
