Indiana Code 27-8-34-6. Coverage of telehealth services; prohibition on requiring use of specific information technology application
(b) Coverage for telehealth services required by subsection (a) may not be subject to a dollar limit, deductible, or coinsurance requirement that is less favorable to a covered individual than the dollar limit, deductible, or coinsurance requirement that applies to the same health care services delivered to a covered individual in person.
Terms Used In Indiana Code 27-8-34-6
- covered individual: means an individual who is entitled to coverage under a policy of accident and sickness insurance. See Indiana Code 27-8-34-1
- health care services: has the meaning set forth in IC 27-8-11-1. See Indiana Code 27-8-34-2
- policy: means a policy of accident and sickness insurance (as defined in IC 27-8-5-1). See Indiana Code 27-8-34-3
- provider: has the meaning set forth in IC 27-8-11-1. See Indiana Code 27-8-34-4
- telehealth services: means health care services delivered by use of technology allowed under Indiana Code 27-8-34-5
(d) A separate consent for telehealth services may not be required.
(e) If a policy provides coverage for telehealth services via:
(1) secure videoconferencing;
(2) store and forward technology; or
(3) remote patient monitoring technology;
between a provider in one (1) location and a patient in another location, the policy may not require the use of a specific information technology application for those services.
