Terms Used In Indiana Code 31-9-2-29

  • Jurisdiction: (1) The legal authority of a court to hear and decide a case. Concurrent jurisdiction exists when two courts have simultaneous responsibility for the same case. (2) The geographic area over which the court has authority to decide cases.
   Sec. 29. “Crime”, for purposes of the juvenile law, means an offense for which an adult might be imprisoned or incarcerated if convicted under the law of the jurisdiction in which the offense is committed.
