Terms Used In Indiana Code 8-1-2.7-3

  • commission: refers to the Indiana utility regulatory commission. See Indiana Code 8-1-1-1
  • Jurisdiction: (1) The legal authority of a court to hear and decide a case. Concurrent jurisdiction exists when two courts have simultaneous responsibility for the same case. (2) The geographic area over which the court has authority to decide cases.
   Sec. 3. A utility described in section 1.3(a)(1) or 1.3(a)(2) of this chapter that proposes to withdraw from the jurisdiction of the commission must first obtain approval from its members or shareholders.
