  • autism spectrum disorder: has the meaning set forth in the most recent edition of the American Psychiatric Association's Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders. See Indiana Code 16-32-4-1
  • developmental disability: has the meaning set forth in IC 12-7-2-61. See Indiana Code 16-32-4-2
  • Discovery: Lawyers' examination, before trial, of facts and documents in possession of the opponents to help the lawyers prepare for trial.
  • Evidence: Information presented in testimony or in documents that is used to persuade the fact finder (judge or jury) to decide the case for one side or the other.
  • Guardian: A person legally empowered and charged with the duty of taking care of and managing the property of another person who because of age, intellect, or health, is incapable of managing his (her) own affairs.
  • minor: means a person less than eighteen (18) years of age. See Indiana Code 1-1-4-5
  • Subpoena: A command to a witness to appear and give testimony.
