- accident and sickness insurance policy: means an insurance policy that provides at least one (1) of the types of insurance described in IC 27-1-5-1, Classes 1(b), 2(a), 2(b), 2(e), 2(f), and 2(h). See Indiana Code 27-8-22.1-1
- at-home postdelivery care: refers to health care provided to a woman at her residence by a physician licensed under Indiana Code 27-8-24-2
- Attorney: includes a counselor or other person authorized to appear and represent a party in an action or special proceeding. See Indiana Code 1-1-4-5
- Bail: Security given for the release of a criminal defendant or witness from legal custody (usually in the form of money) to secure his/her appearance on the day and time appointed.
- Bankruptcy: Refers to statutes and judicial proceedings involving persons or businesses that cannot pay their debts and seek the assistance of the court in getting a fresh start. Under the protection of the bankruptcy court, debtors may discharge their debts, perhaps by paying a portion of each debt. Bankruptcy judges preside over these proceedings.
- child: refers to a child who is less than eighteen (18) years of age. See Indiana Code 27-8-23-3
- claim information: means the following:

- Complaint: A written statement by the plaintiff stating the wrongs allegedly committed by the defendant.
- Contract: A legal written agreement that becomes binding when signed.
- Dependent: A person dependent for support upon another.
- Evidence: Information presented in testimony or in documents that is used to persuade the fact finder (judge or jury) to decide the case for one side or the other.
- health care provider: has the meaning set forth in IC 34-18-2-14. See Indiana Code 27-8-22-1
- insurer: means :

- insurer: has the meaning set forth in IC 12-7-2-120. See Indiana Code 27-8-23-4
- Jurisdiction: (1) The legal authority of a court to hear and decide a case. Concurrent jurisdiction exists when two courts have simultaneous responsibility for the same case. (2) The geographic area over which the court has authority to decide cases.
- maternity benefits: refers to the provision of health care to a woman before, during, and after delivery of a child, including physician, hospital, laboratory, and ultrasound services. See Indiana Code 27-8-24-3
- minor: means a person less than eighteen (18) years of age. See Indiana Code 1-1-4-5
- Nolo contendere: No contest-has the same effect as a plea of guilty, as far as the criminal sentence is concerned, but may not be considered as an admission of guilt for any other purpose.
- provider: has the meaning set forth in IC 27-8-11-1. See Indiana Code 27-8-22.1-3
- representative: has the meaning set forth in IC 16-36-1-2. See Indiana Code 27-8-22-3
