  • Amortization: Paying off a loan by regular installments.
  • an insurance policy or a health plan: refers to an insurance policy or a health maintenance organization contract described in section 1 of this chapter. See Indiana Code 27-8-24.3-4
  • Annual percentage rate: The cost of credit at a yearly rate. It is calculated in a standard way, taking the average compound interest rate over the term of the loan so borrowers can compare loans. Lenders are required by law to disclose a card account's APR. Source: FDIC
  • Annuity: A periodic (usually annual) payment of a fixed sum of money for either the life of the recipient or for a fixed number of years. A series of payments under a contract from an insurance company, a trust company, or an individual. Annuity payments are made at regular intervals over a period of more than one full year.
  • appeal: means the procedure described in IC 27-8-28-17. See Indiana Code 27-8-29-2

  • Bankruptcy: Refers to statutes and judicial proceedings involving persons or businesses that cannot pay their debts and seek the assistance of the court in getting a fresh start.   • consumer: means an individual who receives a recommendation to purchase or exchange an annuity that results in the recommended purchase or exchange. See Indiana Code 27-4-9-2
  • Continuance: Putting off of a hearing ot trial until a later time.
  • Contract debtor: means a debtor who has entered into a written agreement with a licensee. See Indiana Code 28-1-29-1
