Terms Used In Iowa Code 232.9

  • Chief judge: The judge who has primary responsibility for the administration of a court but also decides cases; chief judges are determined by seniority.
  • Child: means any person under the age of eighteen years. See Iowa Code 232.68
  • Court: means the juvenile court established under section 602. See Iowa Code 232.2
  • Judge: means the judge of a juvenile court. See Iowa Code 232.2
 Prior to a hearing pursuant to sections 232.44 through 232.47, 232.50, or 232.54, the child may file a motion with the district court for the appointment of a new judge. The chief judge of the district court for cause shown shall appoint a new judge.
