Terms Used In Iowa Code 308.6

  • Conservation area: means land in which the state department of transportation or the department of natural resources has acquired rights, other than that land necessary for a right-of-way. See Iowa Code 308.3
  • Department: means the state department of transportation. See Iowa Code 321H.2
  • Director: means the director of the department. See Iowa Code 321I.1
  • Great river road: means a scenic and recreational highway consisting of a designated system of roads and streets along the Mississippi river in this state. See Iowa Code 308.3
  • Jurisdiction: (1) The legal authority of a court to hear and decide a case. Concurrent jurisdiction exists when two courts have simultaneous responsibility for the same case. (2) The geographic area over which the court has authority to decide cases.
 The director of transportation, with the concurrence of the department of natural resources, shall transfer jurisdiction of any adjacent conservation area to the department of natural resources upon completion of a new segment of the great river road.
