Terms Used In Iowa Code 327D.40
- property: includes personal and real property. See Iowa Code 4.1
- Railway: means a railroad as defined in subsection 3. See Iowa Code 327D.2
- Rates: means fares, tariffs, tolls, charges, and all classifications, contracts, practices and rules of common carriers relating to such rates. See Iowa Code 327D.2
- state: when applied to the different parts of the United States, includes the District of Columbia and the territories, and the words "United States" may include the said district and territories. See Iowa Code 4.1
- Transportation: means all instrumentalities of shipment or carriage as well as services in connection with the actual transport. See Iowa Code 327D.2
Sections 327D.1 through 327D.29 shall not be construed to prohibit the making of rates by two or more railway companies for the transportation of property over two or more of their respective lines within the state; and a lower charge by each of said companies for its portion of such joint shipment than it charges for a shipment for the same distance wholly over its own line within the state shall not be considered a violation of this chapter, and shall not render such company subject to any of the penalties of this chapter.
