1. A petition requesting that a district placed under the management of trustees be placed back under the management of a board or boards of supervisors, that is signed by a majority of persons, including corporations, owning land within the district assessed for benefits and who in the aggregate own more than one-half the acreage of such lands, may be filed in the office of the auditor and, if the district is situated in more than one county, then a duplicate shall be filed in the office of the auditor of each county.

  • district: means a district defined by a county and one or more cities within the county pursuant to an agreement entered into by the county and cities in accordance with chapter 28E and this part with respect to drainage improvements which the county and cities determine benefit the property located in the cities and the designated unincorporated area of the county.  2. The trustees shall fix a date not less than ten nor more than thirty days from the date the petition is filed for the canvass of such petition, and the trustees and auditor or auditors shall canvass the petition and certify and record in the drainage record the result.
