Terms Used In Kansas Statutes 12-1741

  • City: means any city in Kansas. See Kansas Statutes 12-1795
  • Corporation: A legal entity owned by the holders of shares of stock that have been issued, and that can own, receive, and transfer property, and carry on business in its own name.
  • Cost: means : (1) Expenditures made for construction, engineering, architectural, technical and legal services, reports, property valuations, estimates, plans, specifications, notices, acquisition of real and personal property, consequential damages, easements, rights-of-way, supervision, inspection, testing, publications, printing and sale of bonds, interest on temporary notes, and provisions for land use planning, administrative expense and contingencies of the district; (2) maintenance expenses of improvements as defined in subsection (c) or (d); and (3) service as defined in subsection (e).   • Governing body: means the governing body of any municipality. See Kansas Statutes 12-17,115

Subject to the provisions of Kan. Stat. Ann. §§ 12-1744a and 12-1744b, and amendments thereto, any city shall have power to issue revenue bonds, the proceeds of which shall be used for the purpose of paying all or part of the cost of purchasing, acquiring, constructing, reconstructing, improving, equipping, furnishing, repairing, enlarging or remodeling facilities for agricultural, commercial, hospital, industrial, natural resources, recreational development and manufacturing purposes. Any city shall also have power to enter into leases or lease-purchase agreements by ordinance with any person, firm or corporation for the facilities. Except as otherwise provided in Kan. Stat. Ann. § 12-1741a, and amendments thereto, the facilities may be constructed within the city or its environs without limitation as to distance, providing the governing body of the city declares that the facility, if in being, would promote the welfare of the city.
