Terms Used In Kansas Statutes 12-5718

  • Authority: means the riverfront authority created by this act. See Kansas Statutes 12-5702
  • Tort: A civil wrong or breach of a duty to another person, as outlined by law. A very common tort is negligent operation of a motor vehicle that results in property damage and personal injury in an automobile accident.

The authority is a municipality as defined by the Kansas tort claims act, Kan. Stat. Ann. § 75-6101 et seq., and amendments thereto, and entitled to avail itself of the protections therein. No civil action shall be commenced in any court against the authority by any person for any injury to such person unless it is commenced within two years after the date that the injury was received or the cause of action accrued.
