  • Equal Credit Opportunity Act: Prohibits creditors from discriminating against credit applicants on the basis of race, color, religion, national origin, sex, marital status, age, or because an applicant receives income from a public assistance program. Source: OCC
  • Fiscal year: The fiscal year is the accounting period for the government. For the federal government, this begins on October 1 and ends on September 30. The fiscal year is designated by the calendar year in which it ends; for example, fiscal year 2006 begins on October 1, 2005 and ends on September 30, 2006.
  • Settlement: Parties to a lawsuit resolve their difference without having a trial. Settlements often involve the payment of compensation by one party in satisfaction of the other party's claims.

The administrator shall adopt rules and regulations necessary to carry out the provisions and terms of the uniform consumer credit code which are consistent with or no less restrictive than the truth-in-lending act, which is contained in title I of the consumer credit protection act, 15 U.S.C. § 1601 et seq. and regulation Z, 12 C.F.R. § 226 et seq., as amended, the equal credit opportunity act, 15 U.S.C. § 1691-1691f and regulation B, 12 C.F.R. § 202 et seq., as amended, the real estate settlement procedures act of 1974, 12 U.S.C. § 2601 et seq., and regulation X, 24 C.F.R. §§ 3500 et seq., as amended and section 670 of the John Warner national defense authorization act for fiscal year 2007, 10 U.S.C. § 987 et seq. and 32 C.F.R. § 232 et seq.
