Terms Used In Kansas Statutes 17-631

  • Mortgage: The written agreement pledging property to a creditor as collateral for a loan.
  • State: when applied to the different parts of the United States, includes the District of Columbia and the territories. See Kansas Statutes 77-201

The secretary of state shall not receive for record or for filing any mortgage or deed of trust described in Kan. Stat. Ann. §§ 17-630, unless and until the same has thereon the certificate of a register of deeds that the same has been presented to him pursuant to the provisions of Kan. Stat. Ann. §§ 79-3101 to 79-3107, inclusive, and that any real estate mortgage tax, if any is due, has been paid or that none is due thereon, as the case may be.
