  • Power of attorney: A written instrument which authorizes one person to act as another's agent or attorney. The power of attorney may be for a definite, specific act, or it may be general in nature. The terms of the written power of attorney may specify when it will expire. If not, the power of attorney usually expires when the person granting it dies. Source: OCC
  • State: when applied to the different parts of the United States, includes the District of Columbia and the territories. See Kansas Statutes 77-201

(a) The execution of any document required to be filed bychapter 17 of the Kansas Statutes Annotated, and amendments thereto, and by this act with the secretary of state shall constitute an oath or affirmation, under the penalties of perjury, that the facts stated in the document are true and that any power of attorney used in connection with the execution is in proper form and substance.

(b) This section shall take effect on and after January 1, 2015.
