Terms Used In Kansas Statutes 55-1301

  • Corporation: A legal entity owned by the holders of shares of stock that have been issued, and that can own, receive, and transfer property, and carry on business in its own name.
  • Jurisdiction: (1) The legal authority of a court to hear and decide a case. Concurrent jurisdiction exists when two courts have simultaneous responsibility for the same case. (2) The geographic area over which the court has authority to decide cases.
  • Oil and gas: means crude oil, natural gas, casinghead gas, condensate, or any combination thereof. See Kansas Statutes 55-1302
  • State: when applied to the different parts of the United States, includes the District of Columbia and the territories. See Kansas Statutes 77-201

In addition to the jurisdiction, powers and duties conferred or imposed upon the state corporation commission, herein called “commission,” by articles 6 and 7 ofchapter 55 of the Kansas Statutes Annotated, with respect to the prevention of waste and the conservation of oil and gas and the protection of the correlative rights of persons entitled to share in the production thereof, the commission shall for said purposes have, and it shall be its duty to exercise, the further jurisdiction, powers and duties conferred or imposed upon it by this act.
