Terms Used In Kansas Statutes 55-611

  • Conviction: A judgement of guilt against a criminal defendant.
  • Corporation: A legal entity owned by the holders of shares of stock that have been issued, and that can own, receive, and transfer property, and carry on business in its own name.
  • Jurisdiction: (1) The legal authority of a court to hear and decide a case. Concurrent jurisdiction exists when two courts have simultaneous responsibility for the same case. (2) The geographic area over which the court has authority to decide cases.

Any person, firm or the officials of any corporation violating the provisions of this act shall be guilty of a misdemeanor, and upon conviction in any court having jurisdiction of the offense, be punished by a fine not exceeding $500 or by confinement in the county jail not exceeding six months, or both. Each day’s violation shall be considered a separate offense.
