Terms Used In Kansas Statutes 55-708

  • Conviction: A judgement of guilt against a criminal defendant.
  • Corporation: A legal entity owned by the holders of shares of stock that have been issued, and that can own, receive, and transfer property, and carry on business in its own name.
  • State: when applied to the different parts of the United States, includes the District of Columbia and the territories. See Kansas Statutes 77-201

In addition to any penalty that may be imposed by the state corporation commission, any person, firm or corporation, or any officer, agent or employee thereof, violating the provisions of this act, or any valid order or rules and regulations of the commission, shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and, upon conviction thereof, shall be punished by a fine in any sum not exceeding $5,000, or by imprisonment in the county jail not exceeding 30 days, or by both fine and imprisonment.
