Terms Used In Kansas Statutes 59-3097

  • Jurisdiction: (1) The legal authority of a court to hear and decide a case. Concurrent jurisdiction exists when two courts have simultaneous responsibility for the same case. (2) The geographic area over which the court has authority to decide cases.
  • State: when applied to the different parts of the United States, includes the District of Columbia and the territories. See Kansas Statutes 77-201

Orders establishing and governing a guardianship or conservatorship, or both, issued by a court of competent jurisdiction of any other state, regardless of the specific terminology used in that state’s laws, shall be given full faith and credit within this state, except when doing so would be in specific violation of any law of this state.
