Terms Used In Kansas Statutes 74-4950h

  • Annuity: A periodic (usually annual) payment of a fixed sum of money for either the life of the recipient or for a fixed number of years. A series of payments under a contract from an insurance company, a trust company, or an individual. Annuity payments are made at regular intervals over a period of more than one full year.
  • Retirant: means (1) any person who is a member of a retirement system and who has retired prior to July 2, 1987, (2) any person who is a special member of a retirement system and who has retired prior to July 2, 1987, (3) any person who is a joint annuitant or beneficiary of any member described in clause (1) or of any special member described in clause (2), (4) any local school annuitant, and (5) any insured disability benefit recipient.   • Retirement system: means the Kansas public employees retirement system, the Kansas police and firemen's retirement system, the state school retirement system, the Kansas highway patrol pension fund, the Kansas bureau of investigation pension fund, the Kansas retirement fund for judges, or the Kansas retirement fund for official court reporters.   • State: when applied to the different parts of the United States, includes the District of Columbia and the territories. See Kansas Statutes 77-201

The retirement benefit, pension or annuity payments accruing after June 30, 1998, to each retirant of the state school retirement system who retired prior to January 1, 1971, and who had at least 25 years or more of service credit, shall be increased by an amount equal to $100.
