  • Litigation: A case, controversy, or lawsuit. Participants (plaintiffs and defendants) in lawsuits are called litigants.
  • State: when applied to the different parts of the United States, includes the District of Columbia and the territories. See Kansas Statutes 77-201

The assistant attorney general appointed under Kan. Stat. Ann. § 75-1515 shall be the legal advisor for the office of the state fire marshal. The assistant attorney general appointed under Kan. Stat. Ann. § 75-1515 shall appear for and on behalf of the state fire marshal, or any of the deputies of the state fire marshal, in any litigation that may arise in the discharge of the duties of the office of the state fire marshal.
