Judgments in excess of the amounts specified in KRS § 187.290(11) shall, for the purpose of KRS § 187.290 to KRS § 187.620, be deemed satisfied when payments in the amount so specified have been credited thereon; provided, however, payments made in settlement of any claims because of bodily injury, death or property damage arising from a motor vehicle accident shall be credited in reduction of the respective amounts so specified.

  • Motor vehicle: means every self-propelled vehicle which is designed for use upon a highway, including trailers designed for use with such vehicles (except traction engines, road rollers, farm tractors, tractor cranes, power shovels, mopeds, and well drillers) and every vehicle which is propelled by electric power obtained from overhead wires but not operated upon rails.   • Settlement: Parties to a lawsuit resolve their difference without having a trial. Settlements often involve the payment of compensation by one party in satisfaction of the other party's claims.
