Terms Used In Louisiana Code of Civil Procedure 1441

  • Deposition: An oral statement made before an officer authorized by law to administer oaths. Such statements are often taken to examine potential witnesses, to obtain discovery, or to be used later in trial.

The notice to a party deponent may be accompanied by a request made in compliance with Article 1461 for the production of documents and tangible things at the taking of the deposition.  The procedure of Articles 1461 through 1463 shall apply to the request.
