Terms Used In Louisiana Code of Civil Procedure 739

  • Corporation: A legal entity owned by the holders of shares of stock that have been issued, and that can own, receive, and transfer property, and carry on business in its own name.

Except as otherwise provided in Articles 740 and 741, a domestic or foreign corporation, a domestic or foreign limited liability company, or a domestic, foreign, or alien insurer has the procedural capacity to be sued in its corporate or company name.
