Terms Used In Louisiana Revised Statutes 11:1504

  • Conviction: A judgement of guilt against a criminal defendant.
  • Jurisdiction: (1) The legal authority of a court to hear and decide a case. Concurrent jurisdiction exists when two courts have simultaneous responsibility for the same case. (2) The geographic area over which the court has authority to decide cases.
  • person: includes a body of persons, whether incorporated or not. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 1:10
  • System: means the Clerks' of Court Retirement and Relief Fund. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 11:1503

Any person who shall knowingly make any false statement or shall falsify or permit to be falsified any record or records of this system in an attempt to defraud the system shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and, on conviction thereof by any court of competent jurisdiction, shall be punished by a fine not to exceed one thousand dollars or imprisonment in the parish jail not to exceed twelve months, such fine and imprisonment at the discretion of the court.
