Terms Used In Louisiana Revised Statutes 11:851

  • Board of trustees: means the board provided for in Part V of this Chapter to administer the retirement system. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 11:701
  • Retirement: means withdrawal from active service with a retirement allowance granted under the provisions of this Chapter. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 11:701
  • Statute: A law passed by a legislature.

A.  The board of trustees shall be the trustees of the several funds created by La. Rev. Stat. 11:871 and shall have full power to invest and reinvest available funds and to hold, purchase, sell, assign, transfer, and dispose of any of the securities and investments of the system in the name of the system or its nominee name provided the action is taken in compliance with the rules and regulations established by the board of trustees in accordance with the provisions of La. Rev. Stat. 11:263.  

B.  All interest derived from investments and any gains from the sale or exchange of investments shall be credited to the account of the system.

C.  In every situation where interest is due and payable to the retirement system, the rate of interest shall be compounded interest at the board-approved actuarial valuation rate, except in those cases where the interest is specifically set by statute.
